Annual Meeting & Awards

Join us at our Annual Meeting on: January 25th, 2023 at 6:30pm at the Best Western Falcon Plaza. At this meeting, we review the year's accomplishments; including volunteer recognition and award recipients, hold our board of directors’ election, and vote on the proposed changes to our organizational bylaws. ***If there are proposed changes to our By-Laws for members to vote on at this meeting, the proposed changes can be viewed here.***

We encourage anyone in our community (not just staff and volunteers) to consider nominating outstanding community members/partners for each of the five award categories we award annually. Fill out and submit the form below!

Our organization is governed by a Board of Directors that consists of between 11 and 15 community leaders from across many industries and segments of public life. These individuals are self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, and share a firm commitment to supporting and realizing the organizational mission through their volunteerism. Board members are elected to two-year terms; elections are held each January at the Annual Meeting. If you are interested in learning more or applying to become a board member, please also send an email to woodcountyhumanesociety@gmail.com .

MINNIEBELLE CONLEY COMMUNITY AWARD

The WCHS shelter was erected following a bequeath from the Minniebelle Conley estate upon her death. The Minniebelle Conley Community Award was established in 1997 and is presented annually to a generous community partner whose contributions have significantly assisted us in fulfilling our organization’s mission of existing to be a community leader providing services and resources that enrich the relationship between animals and humans through advocacy, education, and animal welfare.

EXCELLENCE IN ANIMAL CARE AND ADVOCACY AWARD

The Excellence in Animal Care and Advocacy Award (formerly the Special Friend of the Animals Award) was established in 2000. This award is presented annually to an individual who has shown a marked commitment not only to WCHS, but more specifically to the animals. This award recognizes those who are instrumental in creating a better quality of life for animals under our care.
