From in-shelter support to at-home foster care, volunteers support every facet of our work at Wood County Humane Society. And one of the most important volunteer positions is membership on our Fundraising Committee. Our annual fundraising initiatives fuel our ability to save animals and every dollar that we are able to earn through such initiatives helps us to pay for the medical care, food, shelter, and more that our animals need to ready them for their forever homes. Fundraising volunteers participate in all aspects of event planning—from brainstorming new events, to sourcing event venues, to soliciting event sponsors, to setting up (and breaking down) an event, and much, much more. Being a volunteer on the Fundraising Committee is an excellent way to get involved and make a difference for the animals of Wood County Humane Society without committing to a set weekly schedule.
Our volunteers also regularly participate in important outreach work for the organization, working to foster a greater presence for Wood County Humane Society within and beyond Wood County. Such outreach work involves showcasing our pets at offsite adoption events, leading tours at the shelter, and representing the organization at community events. Our outreach volunteers are charged with answering questions about the work that we do at Wood County Humane Society, facilitating educational programming, providing the community with information about existing programs and upcoming events, and promoting responsible pet ownership.
